How we estimated this
Driving cost is miles ÷ 22.2 miles per gallon × gas price + parking. It includes fuel and parking only. Bus fare appears only when route data includes it; see RTC fares. Walking, biking, and a scooter you own have no fare here. Rentals and equipment are not included.
One-way operating carbon uses route meters ÷ 1,609.344 to get miles. Drive: miles × (0.297 + 0.0059 × 28 ÷ 1,000 + 0.0053 × 265 ÷ 1,000) = 0.2985697 kg CO₂e per vehicle-mile. Bus: miles aboard bus × (0.066 + 0.0046 × 28 ÷ 1,000 + 0.0019 × 265 ÷ 1,000) = 0.0666323 kg CO₂e per passenger-mile. Walk, bike, and scooter have no tailpipe emissions. Charging, equipment, and vehicle production are excluded. Source: EPA 2025 emission factors, Tables 10–11.
Routes and travel times come from Google Maps. Routes can change. Check full directions before you leave. Walking, biking, and scooter routes may miss sidewalks or safe crossings. Scooter times use walking directions.
