Put your bike on the bus
Every RTC bus has a bike rack on the front. You load and unload your own bike, and this guide shows how.
Step 1: Get ready before the bus arrives
RTC's bike racks hold two or three bikes, with no extra charge for the rack. Take anything loose off your bike, such as a water bottle or bag, before the bus gets there.
When the bus arrives, let the driver see you're loading a bike, and stay where they can see you while you load it.
If the rack is already full, tell the driver. They can tell you what to do, such as waiting for the next bus.
Step 2: Load your bike
Lower the rack, then lift your bike into an open slot.
Raise the support arm over your front tire to hold the bike in place, and give it a gentle push to make sure it's secure.
Board and pay your fare as usual. Keep an eye on your bike through the window if you can.
Step 3: Unload at your stop
Tell the driver you're getting off with a bike before your stop comes up.
Lift your bike out of the rack, then fold the rack back up if you're the last bike on it.
Step back to the curb before the bus pulls away.
Check RTC’s current bike-rack instructions and restrictions before you ride.
