Ride the bus for the first time
New to the bus? This guide walks you through one trip. RTC runs the buses in Las Vegas.
Step 1: Find your bus
Type where you're going on Plan a trip. Your map app shows the bus number, the stop, and when to be there.
The free Transit app shows where your bus is right now. So does RTC's rideRTC app.
Look at the time of the next bus too. Then missing one is no big deal.
Step 2: Get on the bus
Buses stop only at bus stops. Check the sign on the front of the bus. It shows the route number and where the bus is going.
Stand where the driver can see you. Let people get off first. Then get on at the front door.
On residential routes, pay $2 for one ride or $5 for 24 hours of rides. Drivers don't have change. Pay your bus fare shows every way to pay.
Taking the Deuce on the Strip? One ride costs $4, or $8 for 24 hours. A residential pass works there if you show local ID. Check RTC's current fares.
Hold on as you find a seat. The bus may move before you sit down.
Step 3: Get off at your stop
Watch your map app, so you know when your stop is close. The driver calls out big stops too.
One block before your stop, press the yellow strip or the stop button. Get off at the back door if you can.
Need to change buses? A $2 fare is good for one ride. A 2-hour or 24-hour pass covers the change.
Missed your stop? Get off at the next one. Walk or roll back, or ride back from the stop across the street. You can always ask the driver.
Routes and times change. Check RTC before you go.
