Pay your bus fare
RTC, the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada, runs the buses in Las Vegas. This guide shows common ways to pay your fare, including ways that don't need the rideRTC app or a bank card. It also shows how to find out if you can pay less.
Step 1: Choose your pass
For local residents, a single ride costs $2. If you ride more than once, a pass can cost less: $3 for 2 hours of rides, or $5 for 24 hours. There are also 7-day, 15-day and 30-day passes, for $20, $34 and $65.
Every RTC pass works on every route, including the Deuce, RTC's route along the Las Vegas Strip. Visitors riding the Deuce pay higher Strip and All Access fares.
Changing buses on a round trip? That's four single rides, $8, but a 24-hour pass covers them all for $5.
Step 2: Choose how to pay
The rideRTC app is RTC's official ticketing app. You can buy a pass on your phone, then activate and scan it as you board. You can add cash to your rideRTC account at participating local vendors.
You don't need the app or a bank card to ride. You can buy select passes with cash at a ticket vending machine or an RTC customer sales office, or pay in cash as you board with exact change. A reloadable RTC Tap & GO card is another option.
For a single ride, you can also tap a Visa or Mastercard, phone or smartwatch when you board. Have your pass or fare ready before the bus arrives.
Step 3: Check if you can pay less
RTC offers reduced fares for eligible youth and students, adults 60 and older, veterans and active duty service members, people with disabilities, Medicare cardholders and mobility trained riders. The proof RTC asks for depends on the group.
If you think you qualify, apply before the day you want to ride. Approval can take time.
Use a wheelchair, walker or other mobility aid? The guide "Ride with a wheelchair, walker or stroller" also covers RTC Paratransit.
Fares and eligibility rules can change. Check RTC before you travel.
